I really hate to see you leave -- not only for the great work you have done in figuring out this [product] mess and explaining it to the rest of the world -- but largely because of the positive attitude and gentle manner that you brought to [company]. It was a very bright spot in the dog-eat-dog world that we sometimes get wrapped up in. Your genuine desire to work with all teams and do whatever it takes is one of the things that excited all of us when we interviewed you.

I know there's going to be a lot of customers out there with the help of the Admin Guide you wrote that say "This is great documentation" and how much better it's going to make the [product] customer experience. You are a very good technical writer and it's amazing to have come in with so little knowledge of [product line] and ramp up in the short period of time you did.

I couldn't imagine trying to be able to do your job, but yet you make it look easy and do it so well.

I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how much we appreciate all Barb's extra time and effort on [product] documentation. I think it's fair to say that having the responsibility for [product] documentation might just be the toughest assignment for [department]. She's not only got a handle on pulling content from our very busy engineers, but she's also keeping me straight on tracking our documentation [bug tracking] issues as we scramble to finish things up for [product]. I'm most impressed with how gracious and tactful she goes about her job.
